What I am beginning to realize is that I may have a new theme of photos to chronicle that could easily be named "Cody was here." You see, we adopted a cute little puppy from a local rescue shelter almost one year ago.
During this time he has certainly touched our hearts and has brought plenty of joy to our lives.
We have also come to realize that he is a bit of a CHEWER! Despite all of the dog treats and dog toys on hand to keep him plenty occupied, he continues to manage to find new and interesting items to devour. Allow me to share a list of those items:
1. Two dog beds
2. Two throw rugs
3. Three pairs of shoes
4. Four pairs of flip flops
5. Two pillows
6. One dog leash
7. Countless pairs of socks
8. A bra
9. Cinch bag drawstrings
10. At least 5 toilet paper rolls
11. One flower bed
12. A hermit crab (almost!)
13. A baseball hat
14. A Fleece Jacket
15. A Sweater Jacket
16. Countless Pencils
17. Pencil Erasers
18. One Fuzzy Blanket (My fuzzy blanket!! Grrrrr)
And the list could go on.............all while still looking cute and innocent.
See???????????? He looks cute an innocent. But the list does go on.....
Some of the newest casualties in our home are the stuffed animals. Oh yes. He loves those! We believe he hunts them down. He can be quite stealth about it. We often know when he is into mischief because he becomes very very quiet. Just like a toddler. If they are too quiet..... you just know they are up to something!
Low and behold we have an ever growing collection of what looks like our own version of the "misfit toys."
Poor guys........never knew what hit them.
Band-aids have been used as temporary eye patches and wound dressings for torn ears.
Medical tape has been used to minimize the bleeding of "beenie beads" from injured paws.
Did I mention that he quite often goes for the eyes???? He shows no mercy. As for this poor Skylander, because he was not a stuffed animal he suffered the most permanent damage. Between the skull horns and amputated fighting arm chewed beyond recognition, no amount of crazy glue will fix his wounds.
They sure do look like a sad bunch don't they?
Well this mom will be putting her suture skills to the test today. I am thinking I may have to consult plastic surgery on this one.
In the meantime I have to go check up on the little guy, I think I hear a baseball getting a facelift in the kitchen. But for the life of me......... I can not find my other fuzzy slipper.
Anyone have any suggestions how to productively channel the energy of a power chewer?
Happy Chewing,
~Lisa

ReplyDeleteAwww, Cody looks so sweet and adorable! Poor stuffies, though... Good luck with the suturing. :)
ReplyDeleteCody is absolutely charming! Poppies are so authentic and curious - I heart their absolutely fast movements - they're so alert :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the toys that have gotten plasters ... Enjoy this time, the plays - Smiles that they bring to your face :)

Oh, dear! I guess most puppies do that but I can see where it could become a bit annoying. But, good for you for adopting a little homeless furball.
